    When the country’s 1st kingdom was established during the 4th century, Anuradhapura was chosen as the capital of Sri Lanka. After some modifications that were done, the 1st largest stupa, the world’s oldest Bodhi tree, the palaces and the irrigation infrastructure of that era, are still in good working condition. Now it’s the capital of the North Central Province of Sri Lanka.

    This is one of the key archeological sites in the cultural triangle since the 5th century. History says that it has inhabited since pre-historic times. This is an 80 m granite rock. At the base you find water and boulder gardens, a moat and old city walls while on the rock has frescos of heavenly beings and archeological remains on the top. You can start at the onsite modern museum.

    Kandy offers the exciting chance of a calm and tranquil holiday. This city is located in the grandiose mountain range, as it’s located in the central hills. As Kandy was the capital of the last kingdom, several pieces of the 18th and 19th century colonial architecture, the Temple of the Tooth where Buddha’s tooth relic is being enshrined, the Kandy Lake which is 200 years old, historic Buddhist and Hindu temples, a royal forest reserve are among the many places of significance. The country’s largest botanical garden and the tea museum is in the Hantane hills.

    Adam’s peak or Sri Pada (as known to most travelers) is a mountain having a height of 2,243 m (7,359 ft.). Situated in the central highland region of Sri Lanka. Being popular among tourists and Sri Lankans alike, they start to climb in the middle of the night, so you can reach the peak at sunrise. Breaking rest to reach the peak in the morning is worthwhile as watching the sunrise is nothing short of spectacular.

    Nuwara Eliya is famous for its tea plantations. It has a subtropical climate at an altitude of 1868 m when in other parts of the country it’s 16 ͦ C. This is so favorable to host a variety of flowering plants, trees, ferns, mammals, birds and reptiles. Piduruthalagala, the tallest mountain with a height of 2524 m above sea level which looms over the town is the catchment of the some of the country’s major rivers.

    At 1041 m high, it is famous for its tea plantations. Teas in this place known as Dimbulla have a distinct aroma and taste. Because of its many scenic locations, waterfalls, gorgeous views and hiking trails, Ella is also famous as a stopover on the way the Eastern coast to Bandarawala.

    This is a strict nature reserve and a national park, along the south-east coast of Sri Lanka covering almost 13,000 ha. This is home to elephants, spotted deer, crocodiles, the world’s largest concentration of leopards, sloth bears, langurs as the landscapes comprises of lagoons, shallow lakes, light forest, scrub and grasslands.

    This is a small coastal town in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. Water activities such as whales and dolphin watching is done best in Mirissa, as the world’s biggest animal which is the blue whale can be spotted here. The beach in Mirissa is one of the best surf beaches for experienced surfers with the powerful punchy breaks and the strong undercurrent. The surfers are attracted as there is easy access to the beach and the waves and the lack of crowds.
