- Arrive at Sigiriya
- Visit the elephant orphanage on the way – Tickets for entrance included.

This is one of the key archeological sites in the cultural triangle since the 5th century. History says that it has inhabited since pre-historic times. This is an 80 m granite rock. At the base you find water and boulder gardens, a moat and old city walls while on the rock has frescos of heavenly beings and archeological remains on the top. You can start at the onsite modern museum.

Being popular among tourists and Sri Lankans alike, they start to climb in the middle of the night, so you can reach the peak at sunrise. Breaking rest to reach the peak in the morning is worthwhile as watching the sunrise is nothing short of spectacular.
